The Raising Leaders students of 2025

The Raising Leaders Internship Program is a transformative initiative that prepares Hayward students for their next big step, while helping shape the future of our community.

By equipping young people with mentorship, professional skills, and real-world opportunities, Raising Leaders builds a pipeline of capable, confident leaders who are ready to strengthen our local workforce and civic life.

In neighborhoods where opportunities have historically been limited, programs like this create vital access points that open doors to success and leadership. This shift doesn’t just change individual lives - it fuels bigger outcomes like improved school engagement, reduced youth disconnection, and a stronger local economy.

As participants of the program learn new skills, they become changemakers. Through paid internships, participants gain hands-on experience that deepens their confidence, work ethic, and sense of belonging. These internships plant seeds for a future workforce that is homegrown, skilled, and committed to giving back.

Raising Leaders flips the script for students who might otherwise feel that they have a lack of options. It helps them see what’s possible, step into leadership roles, and strengthen the community from within. Every graduate isn’t just career-ready - they’re community-ready.

This quarter, we proudly celebrated the graduation of our second cohort of Raising Leaders Interns - each one a symbol of a brighter future for Ashland and a step toward stronger, more connected neighborhoods.
