When youth discover a DSAL program they love, they don’t just participate - they go all in!

This year, at least 21 students are enrolled in two or three programs simultaneously, showing just how inspired they are by opportunities for fitness, connection, and growth. Their commitment reflects the supportive, motivating, and energetic environment our coaches, staff, and volunteers create every day.

Every program does more than teach a skill - it builds confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Seeing so many committed kids embrace multiple programs shows that these offerings meet them where they are, and provide multiple pathways to explore their potential.

That impact doesn’t stop with the participant. As youth build confidence and excitement through DSAL programs, they bring that energy home with them, encouraging siblings, parents, and extended family members to get involved, attend events, and support healthy, positive routines. Families become more connected to one another, more engaged in the community, and more invested in shared spaces that promote safety, wellness, and growth. In this way, each participant becomes a bridge, extending the benefits of DSAL programs well beyond the individual.

Participating in multiple programs helps youth build connections and a stronger sense of community. As they meet peers across different classes and activities, they form friendships, find mentors, and create a support network that can guide them through the challenges of growing up. These relationships give them confidence, a sense of belonging, and a safe space to explore who they are - all while learning how to contribute to and thrive within a larger community.

This excitement also reflects the strength of the broader DSAL community. Families, partners, and staff all contribute to a space where young people feel safe, empowered, and encouraged to try more, push harder, and show up again and again. Each additional program a student joins is a demonstration of what is possible when a community comes together to nurture growth, health, and confidence.

These enthusiastic individuals aren’t just participating - they’re living proof of DSAL’s transformative power. Their excitement fuels our work, and their dedication inspires us to keep building programs that challenge, support, and uplift every young person who walks through our doors, helping them achieve more than they might have ever imagined.
