BLACK LIVES MATTER
DSAL Stands with the Black Community
The current political and social unrest, sparked by the murder of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and other victims, is a symptom of centuries of slavery, racism, and systemic injustice. Like millions of people around the country and around the world, we are deeply saddened by these extrajudicial killings of members of the Black community. We as a society must do better. Changing that dynamic is at the heart of what we do.
In the weeks ahead, we will set up a series of virtual conversations with DSAL staff, ACSO, and community members to create real dialogue about the current issues facing the Black community and the nation overall. Although we are proud of the work we do every day, we know that there is always more that we can do to build a stronger, safer, healthier, more just society.
It is also more important than ever for everyone to focus on maintaining their own personal safety and taking care of each other.
